The Schools Activities For The Month of July & August
We have many activities throughout the school year. For the months of july and August, we have:
1. Mastery Test.
Mastery test is the day where you have test in three subjects every first to fourth quarter in which there is an alternating schedule. It will happen on July 24.
2. Nutrition Month.
Its the day where you cook the best foods you could do. Also, there is a friendly competition categorized into grades 4-6 (elementary), grades 7-10 (junior high school) and grades 11-12 (senior high school) for cooking and table set-up. There is another competition called poster making (self explanatory). For the senior high, they have a competition called nutri-jingle. Well, it is a competition where they will use their own music or using the new songs but they are the ones who's going to compose the lyrics, and their song is mostly about nutrition (of course).
3. St. Dominic's Day
On this day, we celebrate the feast day of St. Dominic, the founder of the Order of Preachers. We have an academic contest about his life and family. There is also Palarong Pinoy in which we play sipa (kick), patintero (cops and robbers) and tumba lata (knocking cans over using slippers) in the St. Dominic's Gymnasium (yes it is named that). This is celebrated on August 8, 2019.
4. Periodical Examination
This is the moment when we have a test on all subjects and is usually 10-20% of your grade and is done on August 15-17. The teachers will give the lessons to study a week or two earlier. Better study!
5. Intramurals
It is a 4-day event in which we compete with each other in sports and academics. This is categorized into elementary, junior high and senior high levels. A few of the games are soccer, volleyball and basketball. This usually happens on August 19-22.
6.Buwan ng Wika
Here, we celebrate being a Filipino by wearing our national outfit, playing traditional games, speech choir that is also called sabayang bigkas and dancing lokal folk dances. We speak in Filipino the entire time. This will be done on August 23, 2019.
7. Venerable Mother Francisca Foundation Day
We celebrate the feast day of the foundress of the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena in which we have a tableau that tells a fragment of Venerable Mother Fransisca's life. It happens on August 24, 2019.
